In the first publication of this Directory in 2006, we heeded to the call by local and international agencies and organizations requesting for a quick reference of all registered licensed contractors to save them from the hands of unqualified contractors.

The call was as a result of the dramatic growth in the building industry within the last few decades in the country. The increase in the construction of new buildings has resulted in the increased demand for artisans, technicians, engineers, etc. who are associated with the building industry.

The services rendered by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) are assuredly incomplete without the existing symbiotic relationships and collaborative efforts of like-minded bodies like the Ghana Electrical Contractor's Association (GECA). It is for this reason that ECG cannot afford, but to continue to associate itself with the positive developments in the Association.

May I therefore, on behalf of ECG and on my personal behalf, express our heart-felt congratulations to GECA on the publication of yet another Year Book and Directory for 2008-2009. In so doing, I wish to make a few observations.

 ECG's relationship with the Association hinges on the fact that some very important aspects of the company's operations have been contracted out to qualified electrical professionals who are supposed to be members of the Association.
